Introduction
Flownex SE has multiple levels of integration with Microsoft Excel:
- Integration of Excel workbooks into simulations.
- Automatic generation of Input and Result reports in Excel.
- Excel like grid editors for mass edits of component parameters.
- Network and Project creation from data specified in Excel workbooks.
- Automation of Flownex from Excel through VBA.
Excel Workbook Component
The Excel Workbook component is a Flownex SE component that allows users to create custom components based on existing or new Excel files.
By linking the Excel component to a Flownex model with a data transfer link, variables can be sent to or collected from the excel sheets.
Example: An engineer has a pump sizing program setup in a excel workbook, he requires the pipeline mass flow and inlet pressure at the pump to allow the excel program to determine the type of pump to use. Using a Excel Workbook component he can import the pump sizing program setup in excel and send the mass flow results and inlet pressure to the excel workbook, where the program can then determine the required pump chart. Data can also be sent back to the Flownex network either as a component inputs or calculation results.
It is possible to define any number of properties for the Excel Workbook as the input and output properties can be defined in the Excel property grid. When the Excel Workbook is executed, it will then read the values from Flownex into the defined cell, or send data from a defined cell to a defined Flownex input.
The Flownex SE Excel Workbook component uses all the Microsoft Excel Functionality.

Excel Reporting
The Excel reporting function of Flownex SE is used to produce summarized data of the simulation, in an Excel file. In addition to exporting property data, the data can be formatted by using pre-defined templates, and graphs can be created from property values in the Excel file, automatically.

Excel Automatic Network Generator
Automatic Network Generator
An automatic network generator from an MS Excel spreadsheet provides a network importing facility which allows user to define network parameters in MS Excel and automatically generate Flownex networks from the specified cell data.

Rapid Model Construction using Excel
Multi-editor Window
The Multi-editor window allows users to specify properties for multiple components of the same type simultaneously in a grid defined dialog window, because the grid is cell based it is also possible to copy and paste data from and to excel.

Calculators
The K factor calculator is a tool that allows users to seamlessly calculate and add the summation of the secondary losses to a component.
